Happy Sixth (WHAT) Birthday, A Barefoot Gal! (ft. Favorite Posts, Fond Memories, and a Rather Yellow Giveaway)

It’s so satisfying, somehow, to make lengthy titles.

Anyway hi! How are you today?

Get ready, because today’s post is a very exciting one! 🙂 My blog is SIX years old as of Thursday, the 20th! My goodness that seems old.

But it also does seem like I’ve been blogging for a while (it’s getting closeish to half of my life!), and it has been so much fun! Just some quick stats for those of you who enjoy them… This is kind of an odd tradition, now that I think about it, but who am I to break it? XD

Followers: 1,722

Posts: 590. (Good night! Oof remember when I used to post every day? Yeah sorry about that. The quality was considerably lacking in several of those posts.)

Visitors: 29,000+

Total words written: 211,437 (so basically if I compiled all my posts into a book it’d be the length of Moby Dick, and that’s without any pictures)

Total comments: 21,925

Interesting search term from the past year: “barefoot on pineneedles blog”

Thanks so much to all of you who have been following along and commenting and reading and all that fun stuff. Blogging wouldn’t be much fun without you!

Onto a few posts from my earlier years in blogging. If you want to enjoy my quality (har) old writing feel free to peruse around, I hope you get a kick out of it.

Mid Air💃

Note the nice little emoji in the title. My photography has improved, my posts have gotten longer, but my desire to find any type of random quote – that has at least something to do with the post – has lessened considerably.

Guest Post: A New Piece Of Equipment on the Farm! 🚙

This is the post Logan wrote because he had to for school. I’m sure the ideal audience for my blog would have gotten pretty much nothing of what he was talking about. But hey, the writing quality is far better than anything else that was on my blog!

Award!!!

I was over the moon when I got my first blogging award. Thanks, Josie, for making my day. Also I didn’t remember that I used to like peacocks. Huh.

New Blog Name?

That blog button photo is mildly embarrassing. I guess it’s authentic! *weak chuckle*

DIY Gourd Vases

I was rather proud of this post and was hoping it would be pinned everywhere on Pinterest. But alas, no Pinterest fame for me.

My First Printable!

This is still free, guys. Y’all are passing up a pretty great printable. *nods solemnly*

Blogging has been the start of some pretty amazing things. It started my sister and me on ATCs, which definitely improved my art skills. I also got into snail mailing when I became pen pals with some bloggers I knew, back in 2016, and I’ve become pen pals with about 20 bloggers since. 🙂 Also, I’ve met three bloggers so far, and will be meeting another one soon! Blogging has improved my writing and photography by leaps and bounds, and I’ve made some pretty great friends through it. :DSo, to celebrate all this wonderful bloggyness over the past six years, I’m doing a giveaway! And, in true Megan fashion, it’s a very yellow giveaway. HUZZAH! I kinda wish I could win it myself, hehe. This giveaway is sponsored by several different lovely people who donated yellow things for it. But first, let’s see an overview of what you could win.giveaway 2

  • A lemon tote bag from WerkaCo. It’s so bright and happy and yellow! Weronika has a lot of beautiful colorful tote bags in her shop, along with some other types of products.

giveaway 13giveaway 14

  • Some beautiful yellow-themed stamps from OpenSpaceDesigns. A light bulb, a bee, a lemon, and the phases of the moon. And I’m including a yellow ink pad so you can make some yellow art with these stamps! They’re super pretty and seem really well made. Christine’s shop has several other beautiful stamps, as well as some pretty stationery supplies.

giveaway 5giveaway 6

  • A signed copy of “Honey Butter” by Millie Florence. I just read this book and it’s so happy and summer-y! Even if the title and cover weren’t yellow, the story itself seems quite yellow. 🙂 Millie Florence also has another book, “Lydia Green of Mulberry Glen” which I have sadly not read yet but hope to soon.

giveaway 9giveaway 10

  • Five yellow vinyl stickers from swaygirls. Ahh these are gorgeous! And so wonderfully yellow! 😀 See what I mean, I want to win this myself? Swaygirls has so many beautifully designed stickers! You should definitely check out the shop.

giveaway 3giveaway 4

  • Three yellow bath bombs from FifiandKikisBathCo. These are the sunflower and marigold ones and they look pretty amazing! As do all the bath bombs in that shop. Does anyone else think bath bombs look like they would be good to eat? Anyway, yummy or not (and I’m guessing “not” is the correct answer) they certainly are pretty!

giveaway 7giveaway 8

  • A yellow embroidered cap from JoyineverystitchCo! Ahh, isn’t this gorgeous? It’s so happy and yellow and flowers are so cute! I love it. 🙂 Joy has other embroidered caps as well as embroidered t shirts and sweatshirts! All her designs are super pretty.

giveaway 11giveaway 12

  • And as a tiny bonus prize, I’m bringing back the cringey poster that was in my first ever giveaway. Only this time it’s in yellow! But it still has the same design and it’s signed like the last one. XD

giveaway 15

And there you have it! Six wonderfully sunshine-y prizes that you could win! Now onto the second prize, that’s not quite as yellow. (But it could be!)

The next prize, which two people can win, is a free blog design! If any of you are interested in having me redesign your blog, you can enter the second giveaway as well! (Or just enter the second one and not the first, of course.) I don’t do blog design for people regularly anymore, so this is a pretty exciting chance you have here! *nods convincingly* hehe. And don’t look at my blog’s header and background for examples of my current work, because that’s a “throwback” design from years ago. XD

And for a prize that everyone can win, you can use the code “BLOGIVERSARY6” on my newly released yellow snail mail kit for 17% off!

Alright, some rules and all that:

  • You must have parental permission to enter the yellow giveaway, or be over 18. (Because you’ll need to send me your address if you win.)
  • You must live in the U.S. to enter the yellow giveaway (shipping costs. sigh.).
  • You can get bonus points by 1) reposting this on your blog (3 extra entries), 2) sharing this on social media (2 extra entries for each social media you share it on), 3) checking out the Etsy shops and websites of the sponsors and telling me what your favorite item of theirs is! (1 extra entry per shop/website).

Enter through the contact form below!

**you need to be on my actual site to enter**

Here’s a graphic you can pin on Pinterest if you’d like those extra entries. 🙂

The giveaway ends at March 10th, 11:59 PM EST. I’m planning to announce the winner on the 11th!
