10 Things That Make Me Happy

Hello, everyone!

I’m doing a tag today, and a very happy one at that. Maya created this excellent tag in which you just write a post featuring ten things that make you happy! A few people have tagged me for it (thanks Clara, Kenechi, Weez, and Ainsley!) and I’m finally getting around to doing it!

THE RULES

1. List 10 things that make you happy. (Linking to them, sharing pictures, writing poems about them, telling jokes, etc. are all encouraged but not required.)
2. Tag 10 people who make you happy (and notify them of their tag).

Simple enough, huh? And today I’ll just go with some fun Unsplash photos instead of my own photos.

1. Anything Yellow

Bet you couldn’t have guessed that! Yellow can kind of be summed up by the word happy, in my opinion. It’s so wonderfully bright and cheery! I don’t like the mustard-y shades of yellow quite as much as the brighter shades, but any color of yellow is still great. I’m slowly filling my closet with more yellow clothes and my desk with more yellow decorations. Anything yellow is sure to make me happy!

2. Snail Mail

Bet you didn’t know that either, heh! I LOVE writing letters and receiving letters and decorating envelopes and making friends through mail! I’ve raved about pen palling enough in several other posts, but this one pretty much sums up why I think it’s so great.

3. Switchfoot

Switchfoot’s music is so amazing, and it always makes me happy to hear their songs! I’ve yet to see one of their concerts but I’m hoping sometime they’ll remember my state and tour here! My favorite song by them is probably The Strength To Let Go.

4. Going Barefoot

What? The Barefoot Gal likes going barefoot? Yep, going barefoot makes me quite happy. I like being able to not only see the freshly tilled dirt (which I probably shouldn’t be walking in), but feel it too. Same goes for crispy grass, leaf-covered paths, and sometimes even gravels are fun to walk on! It’s just another layer of noticing I guess! 🙂 Also I think it’s supposed to be good for balance and posture and all that. Not to mention it’s way simpler when you don’t have to mess with socks and shoes.

5. Donkeys

DONKEYS ARE WONDERFUL! They have such lovely, long ears and are so fuzzy in the winter! Also their brays crack me up. And of course my donkey, Eeyore, is the wonderful-est of them all, despite being rather stubborn at times. But hey, I guess she is a donkey after all.

6. Wildflowers

A lot of people point to stars as part of God’s amazing creation, and yes, they’re unfathomably amazing. But wildflowers! There are SO many kinds right in front of us! I’ve been learning different kinds in the past year or so, but I’m never going to know all their names, even just the ones on our farm! I’ll be thinking that there aren’t a lot left to identify, and then I go down a different path and find five more kinds all at once. All the variations in colors and sizes and shapes – it’s amazing. They’re so vibrant and real! Roses and other such domesticated flowers are amazing, but I generally prefer wildflowers. *happy sigh*

7. Peaches

Peaches are just all-around good. So is peach soda! That is all.

8. Baseball

Baseball is the one sport that I really like. And, as a lot of you probably have heard me say, THE NATS WON THE WORLD SERIES! For the first time ever!! The Washington Nationals are my favorite team and my brothers and I very much enjoyed watching this past World Series. It was quite the couple of games!

9. Barn Dancing

Barn dancing is SO fun! 🙂 I hadn’t done any at all until a little more than a year ago, and I’m so glad our friends introduced it to us because it’s now one of my favorite things to do! And definitely my preferred way of exercise. 🙂 Swing dancing is also so much fun, and we learned that about a year ago.

10. Chocolate

I am so very happy that chocolate exists! If it counts as a food then it’s definitely my favorite food. I can’t see how anyone would not like it! Whether it’s chocolate ice cream, nutella, hot cocoa, chocolate cake, or just a Hershey bar, I love chocolate.

And there you have it – ten little things that make me happy. And this tag is the eleventh thing that makes me happy. It’s such a fun idea for a tag! Because who doesn’t want to hear about happy things? 🙂
