An Expansive Envelope Art Post

Hello everyone!

Today I bring you several selections of envelope art that I’ve done over the past year and a little bit more. It gets better as it goes on for the most part. And the photography improves when I get my dslr. ๐Ÿ˜› If you follow my Etsy Instagram you’ll probably remember several of the later ones since I post envelope art there. Anyway, I really like snail mail and that includes envelope art so I have quite a collection to show you! ๐Ÿ˜€

envelopeart1 (1280x918)

I made these envelopes last year right after I got those fun scratch and sniff stamps. I hope USPS puts out more scratch and sniff ones soon because I think they’re wonderful!

envelopeart2 (1280x960)

Watercolor pencils are great! And I don’t remeber if that’s what I used here or not, but now that I look at it more I think I just used normal watercolors. Watercolor pencils are still great though. ๐Ÿ˜›

envelopeart3 (1280x960)

A nice little succulent to accompany these envelopes! The bottom one was done with watercolor pencils. The top one was probably done with Sharpie.

envelopeart4 (1280x960)

Baseball, yay! This one isn’t my favorite ever, but it is baseball! (Also go Nats! Keep up your good streak!)

envelopeart5 (1280x960)

An autumny envelope I did for my cousin because she was very excited about fall. ๐Ÿ™‚

envelopeart6 (1280x960)

I tried to do pumpkins but… that didn’t go so well. They look pretty much like flowers. Oh well! Also I like the font. I have a hard time thinking of different lettering ideas, so I’m happy when I do a new method.

envelopeart7 (1280x960)

Oof, sorry about the awful photo quality! I did this with flash at night and that’s a recipe for photography disaster. Oh well! I do like the theme I did for this one! Though right now I am not in the mood for fall.

envelopeart8 (1280x960)

BLECH! PINK! Yes, yes. I don’t like pink and I did a completely pink themed letter. But that wasn’t for me, it was for my cousin (who’s also my pen pal) who loves pink. She always sends random things in her letters which makes them really fun, so I thought I’d return the favor with a few random things. But I still haven’t topped her breakfast mixes, oatmeal packets, and alcohol prep pads. Also she sent a coin purse once. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ It’s impressive what she can fit in there!

envelopeart9 (1280x960)

SORRY! It’s another awful flash photo! This envelope “art” was super simple, but I like how it turned out. Especially because this washi tape makes the letters look 3D.

envelopeart10 (1280x854)

I sent some themed letters to my friends back in February and had a lot of fun coordinating colors and themes. I really like the bird notes thingy I did in this one! I had a black and white photograph of birds so I drew little music note stems (technical musician terms here) coming out of them.

envelopeart11 (1280x854)

I made this one star themed since stars make nice themes and MacRae likes purple and I had star washi tape and paper. Sadly the envelope turned out a little rough. But oh well!

I really love this one too because WILDFLOWERS! ๐Ÿ˜€ That envelope took me quite a while and I love how it turned out. I also like how I did the letter part of this whole thing! I used a dried flower on that page in the back.

envelopeart13 (1280x960)

I sorta copied an illustration from Pinterest for this… but nonetheless I love how it turned out! ๐Ÿ˜€ The scripty name above it goes well with the style of the flowers in my opinion. (Opinion – 3.14 = onion fyi. I just came up with that!)

envelopeart15 (1280x854)

I love this one! I especially like the purple butterfly and the script, because I have a hard time with writing in watercolor and the butterfly just looks really neat I think.

envelopeart16

More flowers! I just drew the blooms of wildflowers for this one, and then included a wildflower seed packet in the envelope.

envelopeart (1)

I like this one a lot. I think the white gel pen highlights add a nice touch, and I just like how summery this feels!

envelopeart (2)

This one was another very simple one. I just used washi tape and some cut-out watercolored flowers. It was fun to do the washi tape background!

envelopeart (2)

Aesthetic? Perhaps? I did use a kraft envelope and a vintage flower botanical illustration, so that instantly gives me aesthetic points. ๐Ÿ˜€

envelopeart (3)

Here’s a fun one! I did this for a book I sent Clara a few months ago and I really love how it turned out! I did all the “stickers” and labels with label sheets I got and sharpies.

envelopeart17 (1280x854)

Sushi! Jianna loves sushi. I don’t especially, but it’s nice to draw!

envelopeart18 (1280x854)

I definitely do like donuts! But I haven’t had any in a while. At least I can draw them!

envelopeart (4)

Yay cameras! I did this one after I got my DSLR and I cut the little cameras out of some scrapbook paper I had. ๐Ÿ™‚

envelopeart (1)

This one isn’t quite as “arty” because it’s just a collage of different paper. But I think it’s quite pretty! I love the little flowers on the paper stripes.

envelopeart20 (1280x853)

Yay summer! I sent this one at the beginning of June. I love including Kool-Aid because it’s so summery and sugary! XD

envelopeart19 (1280x853)

MANATEES! I love manatees. They’re so round and adorable! I made this whole letter manatee themed. ๐Ÿ™‚

envelopeart22 (1280x854).jpg

Now this is a little different. ๐Ÿ˜› I sent three flip-flops to my friends (one isn’t pictured because it was on the opposite foot from these hehe) to celebrate summer. It’s a really fun thing to do!

envelopeart23 (1280x853)

I’m kinda proud of this one because it took me FOREVER to do! Jianna really loves Scotland so I made a Scotland themed letter for her with Scottish poetry, a playlist, a recipe, and envelope/stationery art. I think it turned out pretty well! Too bad I didn’t have scottish flag stamps. XD

envelopeart21 (1280x853)

Even MORE flowers! Hehe. If I ever don’t know what to do for envelope art, I’ll probably do wildflowers. They’re so pretty and fun to draw!

envelopeart24 (1280x853)

YAY we’re almost done! Hehe. (I’m using “yay” and “hehe” a lot in this post.) This one was fun to do! I used acrylic paint + a pencil eraser for the confetti, and then added a YAY underneath because it needed something there. This wasn’t for anything in particular, except sort of for finishing Algebra. (YAAAY.)

envelopeart25 (1280x854)

Last one! I did this one last week for a friend/pen pal who loves horses and does show jumping. I’m very happy that the horse looks like a horse, because I usually have an awful time drawing horses. The sharpie coloring is a bit rough, but I think it turned out alright. ๐Ÿ™‚

That was quite a lot of mail! And that’s not nearly all that I’ve sent. I’ve already sent about 20 letters this summer, and I hope to get 50 letters sent before school starts again!

I was going to include The Sunshine Blogger Award with this post, but it had already gotten quite long enough, so I decided not to. Any ideas for what I should put with it in another post?

That’s all for today. Oh wait, Clara posted the next SBG challenges in case you haven’t seen them yet! Now that really is all. Have a great Wednesday! ๐Ÿ˜€

favorite envelope art of mine?

what’s the hardest thing for you to draw?
