Will it Work or Fail? ~ Episode 2

Hello guys!

I tried a project a few days ago, and I’m going to make it into a Work or Fail episode. 🙂 What I was trying to do was make soap in a different color and shape by melting another soap bar.

First, I put a small amount of water in the bottom of a pan. Then I put the bar of soap in it and tried to melt it. That didn’t really work, so I took the soap out and cut it into a bunch of shavings.

Then I dumped the shavings and slices of soap back into the pot and turned the heat back on

Soon it started getting more gooey.

I added some food coloring and stirred it in

Next I put a piece of parchment paper on a plate…

and filled a star shaped cookie cutter with the yellow goo. XD

I refrigerated it for about two hours. When I got it out it was a little soft, so a refrigerated it overnight. It was still pretty soft.

I decided to go ahead and get it out. I cut along the lines with a butter knife until it fell out.

See? It’s not that beautiful. Next time I think I’ll not do so much water, add more food coloring, and cook/melt it longer. Maybe I could add some sort of scent…

So. I’d say this project was mostly a fail, because it didn’t turn out like I thought it would. However, I’m going to try again and I think it might work this time. 🙂
